HEIRLOOM CREATIONS

Transforming Memories into Heirloom Art

One of the greatest joys of creating art, for me, is the opportunity to tell a story. There’s something deeply fulfilling about sharing a piece that not only captivates the eye but also carries meaning, emotion, and history.

I feel truly honored when someone entrusts me with a piece of wood that holds sentimental value—perhaps tied to a family member, a cherished place, or a special memory—and allows me to transform it into something both beautiful and significant.

This section of my site is dedicated to that very idea: creating heirloom works of art from the materials and memories that mean the most to you.

Do you have an old rocking chair built by your great-uncle that’s seen better days?
A log saved from the tree that once stood in your grandparents’ front yard?
Or perhaps a cedar chest that’s falling apart, but still holds the weight of your family’s stories?

Let me help you breathe new life into those cherished pieces. Together, we can create something new—an heirloom that honors your past while becoming a lasting story piece for future generations.

If this speaks to you, please follow this link to the Heirloom Inquiry Page and send me a message.

I would love to hear about your loved ones and help create something meaningful for you and your family.

Crafted from a thoughtful blend of Cedar, Figured Maple, and Wenge, this bespoke vase is more than just a decorative piece—it is a preserved memory.

The Cedar was reclaimed from a beloved armoire held by the client for over five decades, originally belonging to his grandfather. To honor its history, I integrated original hardware directly into the design: a keyhole cover is tucked inside the lid, and one of the antique door knobs now serves as the handle.

This piece has allowed the client to keep a tangible connection to his childhood and family heritage close at hand.

This project began with a single Maple log and a lifetime of memories. The wood was salvaged from a tree in the client’s grandparents’ front yard—the very tree she and her cousins played under for years. After saving a piece of its history, she came to me with a beautiful request: could we create 30 small keepsakes so every cousin could have a piece of their childhood home?

With the holidays approaching, we decided on a forest of miniature decorative trees. As a special surprise, I was able to utilize the remaining timber to craft a small segmented bowl, ensuring every bit of that sentimental Maple was put to meaningful use.

It isn't often that I get to work with wood that was planted by the client themselves.

Decades ago, as a nine-year-old boy, my client planted a Douglas Fir in his parents' yard. Years later, he reached out to see if a log from that same tree could be transformed into a set of custom pens.

After receiving the timber, I was pleased to find the wood was in excellent condition. I was able to craft the three requested pens with ease, doing my best to preserve the character of the grain in each piece. I even made sure to return the remaining wood to the client—ensuring that the rest of his childhood tree is ready for whatever future heirlooms he might imagine.
