My story THUS far....
My wife and I relocated from Tampa, FL to Kernersville, NC in 2021. (Much nicer weather, highly recommended.)
Here is a little bit about me.
My earliest wading into the woodworking pond dealt with speaker building, sub-woofers in particular, where function was way more important to me than form.
After years of building things that sounded great but looked just OK, I started focusing on form as well as function.
I met a woodworker named Terry Sanchez, who ended up being not only my mentor but a good friend. He taught me a lot about proper technique as it dealt with building furniture and he introduced me to woodturning, which turned my woodworking world on end. (Pun absolutely intended.)
At one point, Terry convinced me to enter something into the Florida State Fair's Fine Furniture Competition and I begrudgingly agreed. Mostly because if I didn't Terry would have harassed me about not challenging myself. Well, he must have seen something in me that I did not see in myself because I built a couch table, and it won a First Place ribbon. That was all it took to convince me that I had found my thing, my happy place. I just didn't know that it was also going to change my life.
I had always considered myself to be a creative person. But that creativity had always been an outlet or a hobby, never a real driving force in my life. After working in the tech industry for over 20 years, I decided it was time to switch gears and follow my passion for woodworking.
So that brings me to today.
Since deep diving into the world of woodworking, I have built and refinished guitar bodies. I have turned pens and bowls. I have made clocks and segmented vases. I have created fine furniture and workshop cabinets from scratch. I have even built lamps, wall art and ring boxes. All of these creations show my desire to turn wood into beautiful, usable art.
There are a lot of things that I have not made yet, and very few things that I am not interested in tackling. If it can be made from wood, I most likely can and will make it at some point.
I look forward to helping you find that piece of wooden art that will perfectly complement your life.
